1.      Account Type:  

Tanzanite account is a Savings account designated  for Tanzanians  who while abroad are able to save a portion of their income with  a  view to meet local family  obligations  or  for  investment  purposes.

2.      Eligible Customers:

Tanzanians aged 18 years and above  living and working  and/or  studying  abroad.

3.      Currencies:  

TZS, USD, GBP, and Eur

 4.      Minimum Opening Balance:       

USD/GBP/EURO 100 or TZS 100,000

 5.       Benefits:

6.   How to Open Tanzanite

Tanzanite living abroad can obtain CRDB Bank Account opening forms from Tanzania High Commission and fill in them as appropriate.  

 7.   Documents Required for Account Opening:
  • Account Opening Forms
  • Certified copy of the first  five pages of valid Tanzanian passport and  the  last two pages showing the DN number and contacts of relatives;
  • Certified copy of Residence permit or Work permit.
  • Certified copy of student VISA or letter from institution of learning;
  • 3 passport size coloured photographs duly endorsed by the embassy on the reverse.
8.    Document Certification:
  • Copies  of  the documents shall be certified as true copies of  the originals by the Tanzania High Commissioner, Ambassador Counselor or in the respective  country.
  • All documents  and photographs  to be certified eligible  officer (stamped and signed)  at an Embassy, High Commission or Consulate
 9.         Referees:

Tanzania High Commissioners, Ambassadors and Counselors in respective countries. They will verify the information  in  the country of residency

10.         Deposits:

Mainly Credit Transfers from abroad although local deposits are also accepted.

11.        Withdrawals

While in Tanzania the customer can transact at any CRDB Bank branch using TemboCARD at any of the 30 CRDB Bank halls, ATMs, Merchant Point of Sales located  in  Super  Markets, Petrol Stations, Hotels, Restaurants, Pharmacies etc

Payments  will  be  made against  customer identification  i.e. TemboCARD.

12.        Power of Attorney:

A customer can give power  of  attorney  to  a specified person  granting  authority to him/her in writing to withdraw  money  from  the  account

Power of attorney can only be processed while the customer is in Tanzania

13.         Fund Transfers:
(a) Inward Funds Transfer:

All Tanzanite holders shall remit funds to their accounts using following details:-

  • Full names;
  • Account number;
  • CRDB Bank domicile branch;
  • CRDB Bank’s correspondent bank and the respective account.

(b)         Outward Funds Transfer

On account opening form the customer will indicate his/her  banker abroad with full address, SWIFT codes and account number.  After receiving duly written and signed funds transfer instructions CRDB Bank will transfer the specified amount of funds  to  the  specified  account.

CRDB Bank will only transfer funds to customer's accounts and banks  mentioned on the account opening form.

Applicable transfer charge will be recovered from customer’s account.

14.         Service fee:

Service fee will be charged using prevailing CRDB Bank rates and charges schedule.

15.          Interest:

Interest will be calculated  monthly and credited annually. The interest rate is 0.5% above the rate on normal Savings Account  Interest GBP 2000 bearing balance is USD/Eur 5,000 or TZS 100,000.

16.        Statement:

Account statement will be issued quarterly and will be free of any charges to local addresses while those going abroad will be charged postage fee.
