The Bank makes for you assurance of payments to a third party later. You therefore can pay later for goods or services (shipping bonds). If you are a contractor the bank will give assurance that you are capable of supplying the goods or service for which you are tendering (performance bond). The Bank also makes assurances against a customer's security or collateral counter indemnity, all at a commission.
